Why I love "lady slippers"....
Described by Ernst Hugo Heinrich Pfitzer in 1886, Paphiopedilums are know as the "lady's-slipper" orchid due to the unusual pouch-Iike shaped labellum. I love them each and every one for their true uniqueness that is found in the form, color, texture, substance, charm and sometimes scent. The very first orchid I "fell" for was a white Paphiopedilum with huge merlot spots and dots. Guess what? This genus of orchid is still my favorite with "pouches" that resemble the toe of a lady's shoe. |
And here comes the next creation...................featuring the Paphiopedilum!
